Hiring for the future of Flight
As Flight increases its presence in the New Zealand market, so do our growing list of clients' needs - particularly in the Performance Marketing space. When we recently started talking about this and other areas for growth, we realised that now was the time to develop a grassroots approach to hiring.
As a result, our first Social Media internship role was created. This a paid, part time permanent position which will be offering on-the-job training, coaching and mentoring - a hands-on opportunity to learn our in-house tools and processes.
To help us in our search for candidates we engaged the services of Student Job Search, an independent, not-for-profit with a 60,000 strong student network across New Zealand’s leading universities and polytechnics.
It wasn't long before we had 10 keen graduates, so then the shortlisting began. And boy was this tough. The calibre of applicants was very high. The interviewing process took place both remote and in-person meetings - a sign of the times. And after much deliberation we were excited to offer the role to an AUT Graduate who has recently completed a Masters in Marketing.
Reflecting on the process, we feel that recruiting in the graduate space is so unique, you are looking for different skills, a different sort of energy, openness to learn, eagerness and attentiveness.
With graduates you’re not looking at a CV for proven experience but instead for potential and the willingness to learn.
